New State-Of-The-Art Health Centre Coming To Brampton McGuinty Government Providing Families Better Care Closer To Home

A major redevelopment project at the Peel Memorial site of the Williams Osler Health System will give people and families in Brampton better access to state-of-the-art health care services.

The Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness will offer patients convenient access to many services under one roof, using a team of specialists and health professionals.

 Patients will benefit from services such as:

  • urgent care and leading-edge day surgeries;
  • preventative care to help patients manage chronic conditions, such as diabetes and asthma;
  • diagnostic services including CT scans and bone density scans; and
  • community learning programs to help patients and their families understand their condition and maintain their health.

Phase one of the new centre is set to begin in 2012 with construction starting in the summer of 2013.

Investing in modern and efficient hospitals that support the needs of our aging and diversifying population is part of Building Together, Ontario’s long-term infrastructure plan. Ontario will continue to make significant investments in public infrastructure over the next decade to improve the quality of life for families.

 QUOTES

 “I know how important this project is for the people of Brampton and Peel Region and I’m proud to see it move forward. For area residents, new hospital services mean better access to high quality health care services much closer to home.”

- Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care

 “The re-development will improve access to care for the people of Brampton. The staff, volunteers and friends of Peel Memorial Hospital have been a huge driving factor in making this day happen, they should be commended for their dedication, compassion and professionalism.”

- Hon. Linda Jeffrey MPP, Brampton-Springdale

“The government’s support for the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness will ensure William Osler Health System continues to expand services to meet the increasing needs of our community. Peel Memorial will provide more access to care in emergency situations, day surgery, high-end diagnostics and will strengthen care for those with chronic conditions.”

- Matthew Anderson, President and CEO, William Osler Health System
